An email alias is an email account that simply forwards to another POP3 account. An alias does not have its own storage on the mail server. Hyve offer unlimited email aliases and forwarding accounts.

ASP stands for Active Server Page. This can basically be thought of as an html page, which also includes embedded scripts that run on a Microsoft based web server. Before the page is sent back to the client it is dynamically built, based on inputs from other resources, such as a database.

ASPX is a .net version of an Active Server Page.

A chassis (pronounced TCHA-see or CHA-see) is the physical frame or structure of an automobile, an airplane, a desktop computer, or other multi-component device. Case is very similar in meaning, but tends to connote the protective aspect of the frame rather than its structure.

In a computer, the chassis houses the main electronic components, including the motherboard and places for adding optional components or adaptors.

A technology developed by Macromedia, Inc. that enables Web pages to include multimedia objects. To create a shockwave object, you use Macromedia's multimedia authoring tool called Director, and then compress the object with a program called Afterburner. You then insert a reference to the "shocked" file in your Web page. To see a Shockwave object, you need the Shockwave plug-in, a program that integrates seamlessly with your Web browser. The plug-in is freely available from Macromedia's Web site as either a Netscape Navigator plug-in or an ActiveX control.

Microsoft FrontPage, a registered trademark of Microsoft Corporation. A software program to create and manage Web pages. The FrontPage extension is the server side component, used to allow the FrontPage client software to interact with the server.

FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol. It was specifically developed to allow reliable and fast upload and download of files to and from your remote webserver.

FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol. HTTP for Hyper Text Transfer Protocol. Hyve offer its clients the ability to upload web site related files through either protocol. This is purely for convenience, as some firewalls prohibit the use of FTP for data transfer.
ASP Uploading utilises the HTTP protocol via ASP code.

Oracle's relational database was the world's first to support the Structured Query Language (SQL), now an industry standard. Oracle targets high-end workstations and minicomputers as the server platforms on which to run its database systems.

Many web sites use this protocol to obtain confidential user information, such as credit card numbers. By convention, URLs that require an SSL connection start with https instead of http.

With dedicated SSL you must purchase your own SSL certificate and have a dedicated IP address to run the SSL on. With dedicated SSL you get a secure URL lke https://secure.yourname.com/ and our name is not included in the url. Dedicated SSL is more costly because Dedicated SSL requires that you purchase an SSL certificate and have a dedicated IP address.
