Our Four-Stage Management Methodology For Long-Term Success

At Hyve, our management methodology ensures your cloud transition is both seamless and strategically aligned with your business goals. We work through four key stages with all of our customers – Consult, Design, Migrate and Manage. Acting as an extension of your team, we take the time to understand your business, and build and manage a robust solution which meets your current needs, while also allowing for scaling in the future.

1. Consult – Building a foundation through understanding

A successful cloud journey starts with a clear understanding of your unique needs and business challenges. Our consultative approach ensures we begin with an exploration into your objectives, operational requirements, and specific technical considerations.

Luke White, Senior Cloud Consultant at Hyve, explains:

“In order for us to help our customers, we need to know how. We do this by holding discovery calls which allow us to ask questions and listen and react to the answers.”

These discovery sessions are not a quick checklist, they are an open conversation where we gather insights which shape every aspect of the solution we design together. By asking the correct questions and truly listening to your answers, our team gains a comprehensive understanding of what matters to your business. This may be specific performance goals, compliance needs, or business continuity concerns for example. This initial foundational step enables us to build a solution which feels as if it were designed in-house, setting the tone for a partnership between our team and yours.

2. Design – Creating a bespoke solution

With a clear understanding of your needs, we move into the design phase. Our team creates a bespoke cloud solution, tailored to your requirements.

Luke describes the design process:

“By understanding our customers’ requirements, we are able to progress an inquiry into the architectural conversations with senior staff to create a bespoke solution.”

This phase involves close collaboration with our senior architects and engineers, translating your needs into a high-performance, scalable, and secure architecture. We build a solution which reflects the specifics of your workloads, scalability requirements, and budget. This ensures your cloud infrastructure is both functional and optimized for your operations. Each design decision is reviewed in detail, taking into consideration both current demands and future growth. We create a cloud environment which evolves with your business, minimising the needs for disruptive changes in the future.

3. Migrate – Facilitating a smooth transition to the cloud

Once the design phase is finalized, our team facilitates a seamless migration, handling every detail to reduce downtime and risk.

Our Senior Infrastructure Engineer, Alex Frias Del Rio, says:

“We would usually have a meeting with all relevant parties on your side and from our side (this would be an engineer working on the migration, a cloud consultant, and an account manager). During the meeting, we’d establish the goals of the migration, including any parts which need to be prioritised.”

This structured approach ensures everyone is aligned, from the client to our migration specialists, making the process as efficient and transparent as possible.

The migration itself is a multi-step process

Step 1: Building the infrastructure

First, we set up your cloud environment based on the specifications provided.

Our Technical Support Engineer, Leo Santos explains:

“We need to look at your previous solution, and question what changes and optimizations need to be made when migrating to the new environment. For example - are you coming from an on-premise physical infrastructure? This kind of infrastructure often operates with different performance characteristics than a virtualized environment, so adjustments to the new platform should be considered to align with these changes”

With this questioning and preparation, we ensure your infrastructure is ready to perform at its best via the cloud.

Step 2: Configuration and initial data migration

Next, we configure the environment to mirror your existing setup.

Leo says:

“We need to create a flawless copy of your existing infrastructure and make it operational within our cloud infrastructure. This infrastructure can be anything from Active Directory ecosystems to managed firewalls and load balancers, to more simple setups like plain Apache and cPanel servers.”

We handle any software dependencies and configurations, working with precision so that your team can continue with business as usual, with minimal disruptions.

Step 3: Client testing phase

After the initial migration, we work closely with you through a testing phase.

Leo emphasizes the importance of this step:

“Once all the data has been migrated, you can proceed with the testing phase. You will have full access to your infrastructure, and we will be at hand at all points in case any changes need to be made to your platform.”

This support allows your team to validate the setup, ensuring everything runs smoothly.

Step 4: Final data migration

Finally, we coordinate a last transfer of any remaining data to ensure everything is up-to-date.

Leo explains:

“As the customer, you will confirm the final day for the migration. During this day, we will re-import all the latest available data from your existing infrastructure to the Hyve platform. There can be downtime associated with migrating this data, so we take measures to account for this window while the data is copied across.”

We can arrange staged migrations, or migrations during off-peak hours as needed to miminise any downtime. This careful coordination allows your business to go live on the new platform as efficiently as possible, with minimal disruption.

4. Manage – Supporting your cloud platform long-term

After a successful migration, we remain as an extension of your team to manage, optimise, and secure your cloud infrastructure.

Alex highlights our commitment to quality control and continuous support:

“Once the migration is carried out, Hyve will ensure all additional services are functioning as expected (monitoring, backups, IPS, anti-virus, etc.). This is checked by another engineer during our quality control process.”

Our management services go beyond monitoring. We create comprehensive documentation which details your set up, enabling fast troubleshooting and streamlined future support. We also discuss any additional services – such as Advanced Monitoring or Patch Management – with you to ensure your platform remains secure, resilient, and aligned with your evolving needs. Our proactive approach ensures we are consistently looking for ways to help your cloud infrastructure adapt to your business, from load balancing to optimising server resources and ensuring security protocols are updated.
