Hyve Managed Hosting GmbH (Hyve Germany) was launched in 2021 to support our European customers, and we are now further expanding within Germany and the DACH market.

Hyve Germany is expertly led by Mike Wotton, Operations Manager. Speaking on the growth of Hyve, Mike commented ‘Hyve is rapidly expanding globally, so building up our Berlin office and Frankfurt data centre is vital for our European customers. Having previously worked in Technical Support for Hyve UK, I am excited to bring my knowledge of the business to Hyve Germany.’

‘Hyve fills a gap in the German market for an established provider, working globally while maintaining a small-business ethos and focus on support. Our experts have the market knowledge, technical expertise, and people-first attitude to support German businesses to grow.’

Why open a European business?

Post-brexit, opening a European business was essential for us to support our European customers. The UK left the EU single market and customs union at the end of 2020, with UK trade with the EU now governed through the Trade and Co-operation Agreement. This has led to higher barriers trading between the UK and EU. Operating both a UK and EU company removes these barriers, as customers have the option of dealing directly with either company, streamlining the process for our customers.

A local data centre is also vital to our European customers; the launch of Hyve Germany tied in with operations in our Frankfurt data centre, the central location of which ensures quick connections throughout Europe.

As a global company, we take inspiration from travelling and exploring. International expansion additionally creates opportunities for our staff to travel and learn new cultures, supporting their professional growth.

The state of the German market

Germany is a major player in the global and European economies, even more so with Brexit creating stricter regulations for UK businesses trading within the EU.

Research demonstrates strong growth in demand for cloud computing services in Germany, with 46.5% of German companies currently using cloud computing technology, and a further 11.1% planning to.

A study from ISG Provider Lens further projected that demand for cloud computing services will continue to grow, accounting for more than half of data centre capacity by 2025.

Why Berlin?

Berlin has been known as Europe’s answer to Silicon Valley – home to a significant number of start-ups and tech businesses. With the German economy booming, many tech businesses have either set up a Berlin office or moved their operations there entirely.

For Hyve, Berlin was a natural move. With our main headquarters in Brighton, we wanted our European office to be in another vibrant, dynamic city.

Mike commented ‘Having moved from Brighton to Berlin myself several years ago, I recognise the similarities in culture. There is an entrepreneurial attitude and passion for technological innovation in common with both cities – the Hyve difference naturally translates to Berlin.’

What next?

We are rapidly growing our Berlin headquarters, recruiting to the Sales, Technical Support and Development teams. As our workforce grows, we will continue facilitating hosting services for businesses in Germany, providing our outstanding support, best-of-breed architecture, and great value for money.

Our consultative approach allows our experts to design bespoke platforms in line with your business needs. If you are currently operating in Germany and looking to optimise your infrastructure, or are looking to expand into the German market, get in touch.
